Achievements of Abadan University of Medical Sciences’ Treatment Vice-Presidency on the 40th Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran

The Treatment Vice-President of the Abadan University of Medical Sciences pointed out to some of the achievements of this university on the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

This morning, in an interview with the Webda correspondent in Abadan, Dr. Hojatollah Janebi said: “Before 2013, the Abadan University of Medical Sciences had 641 beds, which reached 941 beds in 2018.”

He also mentioned the decline in the rate of cesarean section from 43% in 2013 to 33% in 2018, and added: “Achieving the first rank in accreditation in all the hospitals affiliated to this university was another success.”

The Treatment Vice-President of the Abadan University of Medical Sciences provided details of the recruitment of subspecialists in the fields of oncology, gastroenterology, pulmonary, plastic surgery, rheumatology, and neonatology for the first time in the region, and added: “The round-the-clock emergency medicine was established in teaching hospitals of Abadan.”

He added: “Opening the drug abuse treatment public center in the Taleghani and Hazrat Zeinab hospitals, conclusion of a contract with health insurance, equipping and launching neonatal intensive care units, nuclear medicine, and oncology wards in the Taleghani Hospital were also among other measures taken in the area of ​​treatment.”

He also talked about the launching of the delivery blocks ward in the hospitals affiliated to the Abadan University of Medical Sciences and noted that the dental clinic in the Taleghani Hospital was established charging governmental tariffs.

He also pointed out the purchase of new equipment including 16-slice CT scanner, C-ARM, video endoscope, laparoscope, flow cytometer (for cellular and molecular, histology, and immunology research), and electrochemiluminescence.

Special clinics were launched in the neighboring cities, inpatient wards were established in the Shahid Beheshti Hospital, and a cancer screening center (type 1) was constructed, added the Treatment Vice-President of the Abadan University of Medical Sciences.

He also mentioned the establishment of endoscopy and CT scan devices in the university-affiliated hospitals, two MRI imaging centers in Abadan, equipping and launching the Hazrat Zeinab Hospital with 34 beds in Arvandkenar, improving the emergency room in the affiliated hospitals, improving the physical space of the inpatient wards, and the establishment of the dialysis department of the Hazrat Zaynab Hospital in Arvandkenar in the near future as other measures of the Abadan University of Medical Sciences on the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
